Driving from Artà in the direction of Colònia de Sant Pere, you'll encounter the little road leading to the villa "Son Calletes" on the right. From here, it's another 350 m through some spectacular countryside before you arrive at this lovely, inviting property. The building has an almost modular appearance, with lots of sharp angles and an irregular roofline for an effect that balances well with the landscaping around it. Half of the estate is fenced off – on the other side, several animals including sheep. They come by once a day for housekeeping, and then leave discreetly along the back of the house, leaving you alone to enjoy the grounds and especially the pool in private. Near the car park right in front of the house is a nice little lawn area surrounded by trees, which is a great spot to play or just relax on the grass. Two tall palm trees lend the area a certain Mediterranean charm. This outdoor area also houses the extra-long pool, which at 15 m in length is not just great for splashing around, but for swimming actual laps. What a unique pleasure it's going to be to get out there before breakfast or right as the sun's going down and just glide through the cool water. There's a covered terrace right next to the house and accessible from the kitchen and the living room – the perfect spot to sit back and relax and savour the lush greenery of the garden. You can also keep an eye on the pool from here, as well as any kids who might be playing there. The terrace is furnished with a set of comfortable lounge chairs and an elegant dining set with a round glass table and matching chairs. This is an amazing spot to have a leisurely breakfast in the morning. And in the evenings, it's the best place to sit together with everyone and enjoy a delicious meal while it's still sizzling from the BBQ.

Inside, everything revolves around a spacious living room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. Sprawl out and really make yourself comfortable on one of the couches or armchairs as you enjoy a good book or a watch a movie on the TV. In the evenings, an original light fixture made from a wagon wheel bathes the room in warm, soothing light. The living room leads directly into the kitchen and dining areas, separated from the larger space by a counter. The dining area features a large, rustic table in front of the fireplace where the whole group can dine together in style – and indoors for a change. The traditional kitchen has all your day-to-day holiday needs covered; it even has an electric kettle and an espresso maker. On those hot summer days, there's nothing better than a fresh salad made with delicious local produce and aromatic olive oil. To the right of the front entrance is a large bedroom with a bathroom, and straight ahead, a staircase leads to the upper storey where two other bedrooms and another bathroom are located. These spacious, modern bedrooms offer more than just a place to rest; rather, each one is designed with its own unique aesthetic appeal to create an environment where you can truly relax. Each of the two bathrooms is nicely accented with colourful decorative objects, and the larger bathroom features a highly unusual shower that allows for a truly novel experience. It's housed in a special round area of the bathroom bathed in natural light and largely painted in a lovely orange colour-wash pattern. The shower tray and the curtains are also round, making the whole area feel like a mysterious, elegant picture that you can just climb into.

With a population of about 6,500, Artà is a marvellous little town without any big hotels. It has a few excellent restaurants and good places to shop for groceries and other necessities. Every Tuesday, the town holds its weekly farmer's market, which is well worth checking out. The closest beaches are at Cala Ratjada, Canyamel, Cala Bona, Costa dels Pins, and on the bay at Cala Millor. All bedroom and bathroom linen is included. Bath towels are also provided.
